(Reuters) - A broad low pressure area located near the southwestern portion of the Cabo Verde Islands has a 50% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Friday.

"Regardless of development, winds to tropical storm force and areas of heavy rain are likely to continue over portions of the Cabo Verde Islands through tonight," the Miami based forecaster said.
